Career Exploration
Horizons Club
A board of Peoria leaders were interested in taking a deeper look at what resources can best help students with career readiness. From that goal, the Horizons Club was created. The Horizons Club is a district wide program developed to assist K-5 students with career education and exploration programs.
The Horizons Club partners with community members to speak with Peoria Public School students about their career paths during lunchtime. A majority of the programs focus on teaching students soft skills, goal setting techniques, and discovering their unique talents.
The Horizons Club has been recognized by American Student Assistance as one of the few career exploration programs being offered to middle school students in the state of Illinois. We are excited and honored that our program is helping to support Illinois’ Postsecondary and Career Exploration (PaCE) framework. Read the ASA’s profile on the state of Illinois HERE.
See It, Be It
See It, Be It is a career exploration program for K-5 students where students can listen in on speakers and attend field trips to spark their imaginations.
We Need You!
The Peoria Public School Foundation is always looking for speakers from the community to share their career stories with students. We offer both in-person and virtual opportunities to speak with our students. Click on the link below to sign up for available dates and times.
