PPSF Career Tech Advocate Application

Overview of Position
The Peoria Public Schools Foundation Career Tech Advocate is a part-time, hourly position that is integral to the implementation of the Horizons Club middle school career exploration program. The position is responsible for:

  • Teaching prepared career development and goal setting curriculum to small groups of middle school students during a lunchtime program. Curriculum will be given to the Career Tech Advocate by the program director, but there is personal flexibility in implementation.
    Classroom Management of students, including teaching identified “soft skills”, problem solving any student’s issues that arise (with support and guidance from the program director and school staff).
  • Facilitating guest career speaker presentation with the students, including working with the speaker the day of the presentation, working with students to keep focused and develop appropriate questions for the speakers, and follow-up with students on career information learned
  • Managing attendance, class lists, student incentive distribution
  • Chaperoning some field trips with the students, as needed.
  • Participation in Horizons and Foundation staff meetings and training, as needed.

Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Hourly
Lunch-time availability is needed, 2 to 3 times each week, with a consistent weekly schedule. We can be flexible on what days of the week. Timeframe is usually 11:00am – 1:00 pm (there can be some variation in that based on the school’s schedules). This position works August – May during the school year calendar.

Transportation is required. You will need to pass a background check.
